Beginning April 15 at 4pm local the Kids Time Trial Series will begin. Events will run every other Wednesday (April 15, 29, May 6, 20). This will be a great event for our youth and is open for any age rider up to 17 years old. There will be three separate courses set up that will encompass the green, blue and red trails to give riders a challenge at every age and experience. Check back to this thread for cancellations the day of the event, it will be posted by 1pm.
Helmets will be provided and there is no charge. If your willing to help out please drop me a note, its always good to have a few extra bodies around.
Please contact me with comments or questions you have.

Folks,
The course is marked, the trails are good, and the weather is perfect. The Kids Time Trial Series first event looks like a GO for today. A couple of things:
1) There are three courses. A .75 green arrow loop for little tikes. A 1.3 mile green arrow loop for bigger kids, and a 2.5 mile blue/red loop for more advanced riders. The trails are clearly marked with arrows and there will be people there to ride with and answer your questions.
2) Event will start today at 4 pm, feel free to show up early and pre-ride
3) If your going to be late ( past 5pm) contact Dick Heershap at
heerschapd@ntelos.com and let him know your coming.
4) There is a dead deer back at the intersection of the Red, Blue and Green trails ( at the big rock) and it stinks pretty bad. Ive notified the parks and recs people to pick it up but Im not sure it will be out of there by the afternoon. It is OFF the trail but can be seen by the Blue course users.

Be safe, enjoy, and most of all HAVE FUN!
Marty

That was awesome!

Those kids are FAST! I thought I was fast... I tried the course at the end and they were beating my time by at least 2 1/2 mins. I am impressed! Good job everyone!

Notes for next time....

1. tubes
2. pumps
3. pens

Also... I just realized... we left the arrows up. Should they stay up or do they need to come down? I can go take them down tomorrow if need be since I am off from work. Since they are laminated they should hold up to rain though, and if the same course is going to be used again... just let me know. :)

Again... had a blast and enjoyed meeting everyone!

wait... where was the 1.3 mile loop? We were only doing the .75 and the 2.5.

EDIT: Maybe we were doing the 1.3 and the 2.5 and not the .75. Below are the routes we were taking...

Yeh ..Maybe the arrows got pulled down. The Loops both started together out of the Kiosc and went right. This map shows the green loop going straight out only then going left which would be the .75 mile loop. Were there 2(two) arrows ( Green and Blue)up when you guys got here showing starting right?
Yes, Arrows should come down, different course next time. Are they still up?
Thanks!
Marty

Correction..this map is correct and was correctly labeled. Sorry.
Wrong side up.
This should have been the right courses. Was the dead deer still there?
