I really dont like to complain about people with good intentions but whoever vandalized the top part of the big berm trail off of kalors should go straight to church and prey for forgiveness. PLease just stop, there are other parts of the trail system that could use some help.

You sure its vandalized and not being rebuilt? You are talking about the trail that cuts off from the blue trail on the way to Kaylor's and is pink? I only know the colors and not the names.

Trail Name: Upper Ravine....

The entrance did receive a lot of work this past Thursday, thanks to tall the volunteers who have helped with Thursday Trail Work Nights. The trail has changed significantly over the past three years since it was first built. Let's encourage those working on the trails not discourage.

Thanks everyone!

Thomas

I'd like to second Thomas on this one. As a rider from out of town I unfortunatley have extremely limited access to volunteer work at Massanutten but very much appreciate the hours of hard work put into the trails that enable me to ride when I get in town. Trails change and you can't please everybody, but without volunteers we would not have trails.

The berms on the new trail at the top are OUTSTANDING compared to last year... I have yet to ride the ravine trail, but I have no doubt that they will be better than before in no time.

The section of the upper ravine trail just after you leave the Kaylor's knob trail has been altered, for the better. The very top part of the upper ravine was a particularly steep and difficult build several years back because of the ultra steep and rocky terrain. The finished result was fun for some but many folks could not ride the initial drop into the trail for fear of the repercussions of falling off the steep downhill side of the trail. I think the trail is for the better now for several reasons.

-The trail was unrideable for the majority of riders because of the steep rocky terrain and now the trail is more accessible
-Normally you want difficult barriers of entry at the start of a trail to warn riders of what they will encounter further down the trail, in this case nothing further down the trail even closely resembles the rocky gnar that still exists at the top of the upper ravine
-The rock step downs have been eroding for several years and the drops have gotten bigger making a nasty crash even more likely
-Less danger at races and less chance of a rider balling it up and holding back many others
-SVBC built trails at Massanutten should be relatively accessible for a mountain bikers who ride in this area. The trails provide an opportunity for those who cannot otherwise ride some of the more difficult terrain to experience riding
-Ultimately anyone who wants rocks can ride Kaylor's ridge trail. The ridge trail is much more difficult and challenging and endlessly rocky
